Introducing a very limited series of handmade sterling St Expedite medal pendants. These solid silver talisman pendants were handcrafted to help the bearer to connect with St Expedite. They can be placed on an altar when petitioning St Expedite for urgent assistance, or if you struggle with procrastination, they can be worn when you need a dose of St Expedite’s swift & decisive energy (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?).
(Wondering who St Expedite is and why you might want him as an ally? Check out my guide here)
These talismans were made on the first day of the novena leading up to St Expedite’s feast day on 19th April 2023. They were placed on an altar dedicated to St Expedite and charged with prayers and anointed with ritual oils by Sphere + Sundry daily during the nine-day novena. On St Expedite’s feast day, the talismans were inscribed with HODIE and then immediately fired to achieve their solid metal form during the hour of Mercury. After firing they were placed back upon his altar for a further three days,, surrounded by all his favourite feast day offerings - red wine, red roses and of course homemade pound cake!
These talismans have been pressed from a hand carved master in the style of a Roman coin - as befits the former centurion! The front of the coin bears St Expedite’s name & palm frond motif, and the back of the coin inscribed with HODIE! (translation: today!). Each talisman has its own character, cracks & markings, like the ancient coins they were inspired by. They have been oxidised to give them the patina of aged metal, and this patina will continue to change as they age.
Each talisman is unique and their dimensions & weight vary slightly. They are around 22mm in diameter and are approximately 8 grams of solid sterling silver (a luxurious weight!). The internal diameter of the bail (jump ring) is approximately 3mm. They can optionally be purchased with a 50cm sterling silver rounded box chain.
